Regardless if you are new to network marketing or experienced, there are some pitfalls and traps that you should avoid.  They are:

1. Do not spread yourself too thin; focus on building one business opportunity at a time.

My experience has been that it is very difficult and just about impossible to promote and build more than one business opportunity at the same time. I tried to build 3 business opportunities at the same time because I wanted to make money fast and I thought that it would be easy.  After 3 months, I found that my focus was too divided in terms of trying to build each business, I incurred a large credit card debt, and I didn’t make any money. What I have since learned was that the most successful internet marketers focus on building one business at a time. They only move onto the next business opportunity after the first one is running successfully, earning them a steady income on autopilot.

2. Do your due diligence before joining any business opportunity.

If you are looking for a way to make money online, you know the internet is filled with so-called opportunities that promise that you will become a millionaire overnight, or it is so easy a child can do it.  Unfortunately, internet scam artists are alive and well, and they prey on people who buy into the false hope and/or garbage that they are selling. These “opportunities” are designed to rip you off and make money for the scam artists. A basic rule of thumb to follow is that legitimate business opportunities are not “get rich quick schemes”. They require you to actually work, and it does take some time. Anything that promises you riches “overnight” or “all you have to do is push a button”, steer clear.

3. Never stop learning; always strive to improve yourself.

Even if your business is hugely successful, there is always room for improvement and growth.  It is very important to work on your mindset in regards to your business because we are all surrounded by constant negativity–from the media, family, friends, and the workplace. In order to keep focused, you must surround yourself with positive influences, such as religion or communication with others who share your interests.
